I am a Consultant Paeiatric Cardiac Anaesthestist and Intensivist responsible for the care of the patients underoing paediatric cardiac surgeries during postopeative care at OGHS. GOSH is a tertiary referral centre for childrne with congenital heart disease before and after congenital heart surgery for infants and children with intractable respiratory or cardio-respiratory failure needing extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).

I am one of the Medical Simulation Leads for the unit responsible for the clinical medical simulation teaching for doctors and nurses, and am developing weekly in situ simulation programmes with structure multidisciplinary team teaching. I am EPALS instructor and teach actively several times as year. 

I am interested in neuromonitoring, neuroprotection and neurodevelopmental outcomes in children with congenital heart defects and those supported on mechanical circulatory support including ECMO with the aim to improve patient care, service delivery and ultimately quality of life. 

My current plans for research is to establish measures to idenfity neurological impairments and neurodisability pre, during and post major cardiac surgery and establish structured longitudinal follow-up for ECMO survivors, to study the effect of neuroprotective interventions and outcome and to study Transcranial Doppler as a marker of brain autoregulation.

I have developed expertise in fast tracking surgical patients, perloperative pain management, clinical governance, patient saftey and quality improvement within paediatric cardiac anaesthesia and intensive care in Glenfield Hospital. 

I am an active member of Paediatric Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Societies in UK and USA, ELSO, the Euro ELSO Working Group on Neurological Monitoring and Outcome and Working Group of anticoagulation on ECMO and the Mechanical Circulatory Support Task Force Cardiac ICU & Mechanical Circulatory Support section within ESPNIC.
