Virtual Clinic Appointments FAQs

GOSH offers virtual consultations in most clinics that will mean you can have the  consultation with your GOSH specialist from your own home. This means that you will only have to travel to see us when there is clinical need. Not only will this help protect your family and our staff but you will save time and travel costs while receiving the same quality care as an in-person visit.

Please be aware that virtual appointments are not always possible for your child and it is important to continue to travel to hospital for appointments based on your consultant’s recommendation. Please check with your consultant’s secretary if you are unsure

To have an appointment with your provider via video, you just need a mobile device, tablet, or computer with wifi connection.

Please contact your consultant's secretary for advice on how to make a virtual appointment with your consultant. All GOSH patients are able to access virtual appointments using our patient portal MyGOSH.

Further details on how to access MyGOSH please download the pdf below called GOSH Video Visits. 

Once the appointment is made, please request a MyGOSH activation code from either the consultant's secretary or PrivateInfo@gosh.nhs.uk.  

The activation code is required to set up your account on MyGOSH, and it will expire after 24 hours. It is important that you log in and create your own username and password once it has been received.

To prepare for your virtual consultation, it is advisable to test the process in advance of the appointment. Once you have signed in to MyGOSH, navigate to the Appointment and Visits Page, and click into your upcoming appointment to see the details. The process for log in will depend on what device you are using; PC or mobile device.

GOSH can provide an Interpreter for the Virtual consultation if needed, but a minimum of 48 hours is needed prior to the appointment date. Please contact PrivateInfo@gosh.nhs.uk to request this service.

Once your Virtual Consultation appointment has been confirmed, please contact our Finance department on + 44 (0)20 7 405 9200 Ext 7988 / 1843, to process a card payment in advance of your appointment. If your Virtual Consultation appointment is being paid for by a third party, please contact your sponsor to request that financial authorisation is made in advance of the appointment. 

Yes, a medical report will be prepared following the consultation and it will be sent to you within 7 working days.

Yes, you can upload reports or files that you would like the consulant to review as part of the consultation, and these will be stored in your electonic patient record. If you are unable to upload the files directly on to MyGOSH, please contact PrivateInfo@gosh.nhs.uk, or the named secretary, who will assist to have the files uploaded.

Like all health information held by GOSH, we take great care to make sure it is kept private and secure. Access to this information is controlled using a secure activation code which allows you to reset your username and password to something only you know. No one can access MyGOSH without their password and everything you do in MyGOSH is stored securely at GOSH.

Patients and families may wish to make a recording of discussions with clinicians for their personal record.  If you would like to record the consultation, please request the permission of everyone whose voice or image may be recorded, in advance of the appointment.

Yes, but we will need to arrange the secure connection in advance of the appointment. Please contact PrivateAppts@gosh.nhs.uk or the consultant's secretary, to make the arrangements at least 2 working days in advance of the appointment.
