Overview

Dr David O'Connor is a consultant in paediatric haematology responsible for the daily care of children with malignant an non-malignant haematological disorders. He has particular expertise in all forms of childhood leukaemia. 

He completed a PhD at Imperial College London in 2015 investigating the molecular causes of leukaemia and has published a number of high impact papers. Dr O' Connor combines his clinic work with ongoing research activities at the University College London Cancer Institue. He is a Cancer Research UK funded clinician scientist and leads research aiming to identify novel effective therapies for the treatment of high-risk leukaemia.

Dr O'Conner leads a research programme at the University College London Cancer Institute which focuses on the identification of genetic drivers of high-risk leukaemias. The appreciation of these molecular mechanisms will lead to the development of novel agents to overcome treatment resistance, improving outcomes in children with leukaemia.
